Our Mission
The mission of Residence Life is to support the Bodega Bay University mission by providing unique living environments that inspires academic learning, student engagement, and personal growth and development by producing informed, global citizens, igniting passion, while ever clarifying personal values and assumptions about oneself and diverse others.
We aim to:
OUR PROMISE TO OUR RESIDENTS
We believe in the uniqueness and value of each individual and therefore welcome all students to the residence life community without discrimination of any identifier or intersection of identities.
We hope to foster an environment where students feel empowered to examine their beliefs, attitudes, and actions toward all people. We will encourage students to challenge stereotypes by increasing their knowledge base, widening their experiences, and engaging in meaningful dialogue about differences. In so doing, we hope that fear and ignorance are reduced and that acceptance and celebration are easily recognizable. We aim to celebrate the worth of each resident in the world community.
We will reach out to students who may feel unwelcome, unseen, or unheard. We will examine department policies and practices to ensure inclusion. We will encourage students who feel marginalized to find their voice through engagement in the campus community as for that voice.
We expect all individuals to be treated with the dignity and respect. We will accept nothing less. Those who go against our community standards will be challenged to recommit to our common values or will be removed from the community via community council (a group of peers live in the community and who help enforce our community standards). 24

- Provide a safe and secure environment for all students.
- Offer a climate that celebrates selfhood and diversity by bringing students together in a community where differences are respected and where the common goal is learning.
- Create an atmosphere of civility, where self-responsibility and mutual respect are not only encouraged, but expected.
- Encourage the development of independent living and real world life skills.
- Offer educational and social programming that furthers community building and enriches the overall student experience, personal growth and development, fosters the values clarification, and helps students develop areas of passion. 16, 23
